Shirley Jean Covington, 82, Goodell, Iowa died Oct. 5, 2019, surrounded by her family. A Celebration of Life will be held at Cattleman's at the Club in Belmond on Saturday, Oct. 12 at 1 p.m.

Shirley was born in Clarion on Dec. 19, 1936. She married her lifelong sweetheart Ray on Oct. 16, 1958. They made their home in Belmond where Shirley was a beautician for 21 years. She attended NIACC and received an associate degree in business. She enjoyed spending her time with family.

She was preceded in death by her parents Luther Tate and Anna Evans; brother Luther Tate; daughter Susie Covington; and son William Ray Covington, Jr. Shirley's family includes her husband Ray; son Randy Covington of Eldon MO, daughter Laurie (Loren) Winfrey of Ames, son Larry Covington of Maui, HI, and daughter Rhonda Dishman of Clarion; step son Ronny (Marie) Benson of Vinton; niece Jeanette Tate; 17 grandchildren and 18 great-grandchildren.
