John Pehl dies at age of 85

John W. Pehl, 85, of Goldfield died Monday at the Rotary Ann Home where he had been a patient for some time.

Funeral services were held at 2 o'clock Wednesday at the Wilson Funeral Home with the Rev. Duane O'Tool of Goldfield officiating. Burial was in Glenwood Cemetery, Goldfield.

Mr. Pehl is survived by two daughters, Mrs. Andrew DeMots of Goldfield and Mrs. Ruth Buhman of Marshalltown. Other survivors are 11 grandchildren, 22 great-grandchildren, and one sister, Mrs. Laura Veldhouse, of Corwith.

Mr. Pehl was born in Goldfield and had made his home in that community all of his life and farmed for many years before retiring.

John W. Pehl, son of George and Caroline Rasmussen Pehl, was born December 9, 1884 at Goldfield. He received his education in the rural schools at Goldfield.

On December 20, 1909 he was united in marriage to Myrtle Helmer at Goldfield and to this union three daughters were born. He was a retired farmer, having spent his entire life on farms in the Goldfield area.

He died Monday morning, March 2, at the Rotary Ann Home in Eagle Grove where he had resided the past eight months. He was 85 years, 2 months and 23 days of age at the time of his passing.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Myrtle in 1956; one brother, George, and one daughter, Doris Mae Hofmann.

He is survived by two daughters Mrs. Andrew DeMots of Goldfield, and Mrs. William Buhman of Marshalltown. Eleven grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren; one sister, Mrs. Laura Veldhouse of Corwith.

Funeral services were held Wednesday, March 4, at 2 p.m. at Wilson Funeral Home, Eagle Grove, with Rev. Duane O'Tool of Goldfield Methodist Church officiating. Interment was in the Glenwood Cemetery, Goldfield.
