EVELYN F. WHEELER
Evelyn Frances Nolte was born on September 5, 1917, in Somers, Iowa, to Reinhard George and Fannie Kirkendall Nolte. After her mother's death in 1922, she went to live with her grandparents, the Kirkendalls, at State Center, Iowa. Her dad married Iva Saunders, and she lived with them in Farnhamville, Iowa. The family moved to Goldfield, Iowa, when she was a freshman, and she graduated from Goldfield High School in 1935. She was united in marriage with Alfred F. Wheeler on July 27,1935, at Clarion, Iowa. They made their borne in Goldfield on the family farm. Her husband died on December 12, 1974. She moved into town in 1979. She was a longtime member of the United Methodist Church in Goldfield teaching Sunday school, singing in the church choir, holding church offices and was involved in United Methodist Women. She was also a member of the D. O. C. Club and various bridge clubs in Goldfield.

Evelyn F. Wheeler died Tuesday, March 9, 1999, at the North Iowa Mercy Health Center in Mason City, Iowa, at the age of 81. Survivors include one daughter, Linda Lou Babcock of Goldfield; two grandchildren; and four great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Alfred; an infant brother, Harlan; her son, Clinton Eugene Babcock in 1955; and a grandson, William Duane Babcock in 1988.

Funeral services were held Saturday, March 13, 1999, at 10:30 a.m. at the United Methodist Church in Goldfield with Reverend Karen Dearchs officiating. Burial was held in the Glenwood Cemetery in Goldfield. Willim Funeral Home in Eagle Grove was in charge of arrangements.

GOLDFIELD - Evelyn Wheeler, 81, of Goldfield, died Tuesday (March 9, 1999) at the North Iowa Mercy Health Center, Mason City. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at the United Methodist Church, Goldfield, with the Rev. Karen Dearchs officiating. Burial will be in the Glenwood Cemetery, Goldfield. Visitation will be held from 4 to 7 p.m. Friday at the Willim Funeral Home, Eagle Grove, with the family present from 4 to 7 p.m.
