MARY E. GRANDGEORGE

Mary Elizabeth Knight was born on September 3, 1912, the daughter of Jay and Maude Kelling Knight at Goldfield. She received her education in the Goldfield School system, graduating in 1930.

She was united in marriage to David Grandgeorge of Eagle Grove on January 3, 1935 at Fort Dodge. They farmed the Eagle Grove area most of their married lives, moving into Eagle Grove in 1971. She was a member of the Samuel Lutheran Church in Eagle Grove, the Sew-Sew Club, and Birthday Club. She worked as a cook for the Rotary Ann Nursing Home in Eagle Grove.

Mary Elizabeth Grandgeorge died at the Mercy Medical Center in Des Moines following a heart attack, Wednesday, February 7, 1990, at the age of 77 years, five months, and four days. She was admitted Sunday evening after being taken by ambulance from the Community Memorial Hospital in Clarion.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, David; sister, Ione Lewis; and brother-in-law, Les Kvale.

She is survived by one daughter, Mrs. Don (Mary Lou) Farris, Chanute, Kan.; four brothers, Richard Knight, Adams, Minn.; Kenneth and Lynn of Goldfield; and James, Clarion; two sisters, Lucille Kvale, Goldfield; and Betty Lou Knight, Emmetsburg; three grandchildren; and three greatgrandchildren.

Funeral services were held on February 9 at 1:30 p.m. at the Samuel Lutheran Church in Eagle Grove, with the Rev. Carlton Shaw officiating. Burial was in Glenwood Cemetery, Goldfield.
