JOHN BERNARD SHEETS

John Bernard Sheets was born December 24, 1899, at Guthrie Center, the son of Horatius and Minnie Belle Armstrong Sheets. He attended school in Missouri and Blairstown, Iowa.

He was united in marriage to Ethel Paskin of Boone Township, Wright County, March 10, 1916, at Clarion. They farmed near Goldfield and Le Roy, Minn., before returning to Goldfield in 1960.

Mrs. Sheets died in 1972.

He became a resident of the Clarion Care Center in 1988. John Bernard Sheets died at the Clarion Care Center, Clarion, on Thursday, February 21, 1991, at the age of 99 years, one month, and 27 days.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife; infant daughter; a son, Virgil in World War II; and three sisters, Rose Barnett, Eagle Grove; Nellie Kombrink; and Helen Binge.

He is survived by three sons, Merle and Raymond, Goldfield; and John Jr., Webster City; three daughters, Mrs. Wayne (Alice) Waddell, Riceville; Beulah Williamson, Mason City; and Mrs. Vernon (Lila) Ortman, Washburn; two brothers, George Sheets, Harrisonville, Mo.; and Charley Sheets, Creighton, Mo.; and a sister, Eula Hutchinson, Creighton.

Funeral services were held at the Kastler-Babcock Funeral Home, Eagle Grove, on Saturday, February 23. The Rev. James Seibert, pastor of the United Methodist Church, Goldfield, officiated. Burial was in the Glenwood Cemetery, Goldfield.
