ADA W. BANKS

Ada Wilma Banks, the daughter of Albert H. and Eva (Jaynes) Thurmond, was born on October 25, 1906, near Blairsburg, Iowa. Ada was raised and educated in the area of her birth, attending rural Hamilton County schools.

Ada married Gordon A. Banks on March 26, 1954, in Minnesota. They moved to Eagle Grove, where they made their home and Gordon owned and operated Banks Auto Repair for 33 years. He preceded her in death in 1987.

Survivors include two sisters, Verdelle Correll of Victorville, Calif., and Ethel Kunkle of Eagle Grove; a brother, Everett "Chuck" Thurmond of Williams, Iowa; and many nieces, nephews, and other extended family.

Ada died on Friday, May 2, 2003, at the Rotary Ann Nursing home in Eagle Grove, at the age of 96. Her parents; husband; three sisters; and four brothers, all preceded her in death.

Graveside services were held Sunday, May 4, 2 p.m., at the Rose Hill Cemetery in Eagle Grove. Visitation was held from 1 to 2 p.m. at the Foust Funeral Home.

Foust Funeral Home of Eagle Grove was in charge of arrangements.
