LEBANON, Oregon --- Funeral services for Fred Bjornsen, 81, 650 Walnut St., who died Tuesday evening at Lebanon Community Hospital following an extended illness, will be 11 a.m. Friday at Jost Funeral Home. The Rev. Mark Tjepkema will officiate and burial follows at the I.O.O.F. Cemetery. He was born May 12, 1897, at Haugsund, Norway [Haugesund, Rogaland, Norway], and came to New York at the age of 16. He moved to Lebanon in 1936 from Eagle Grove, Iowa. He had worked as a carpenter and farmer until employment as a maintenance supervisor for Lebanon schools. He retired in 1967 after 19 years with the school district. He married Neva Gardner Oct. 2, 1933, at Woolstock, Iowa. She survives. Other survivors include three sons, Morris, Clifford, and Fred, all of Lebanon; four daughters, June Milleman, Redding, Calif., Junis Thieda, Joyce Weatherly and Doris Rose, all of Lebanon; one brother, Andrew Bjornsen, Medford; three sisters, Olga Saltvedt, New Jersey and two sisters in Norway; and 18 grandchildren.
