Fred T. Bjornsen, 63, of Lebanon, Oregon died Feb. 24, 2009, at his home.

A funeral service was held Feb. 27 at Huston-Jost Funeral Home. Private interment took place in Willamette National Cemetery in Portland.

He was born Jan. 25, 1946, in Ventura Heights, Iowa, the son of Sigfred and Neva (Gardner) Bjornsen. In 1947, he moved with his family to Lebanon, where he attended school. He served in the Army for seven years during the Vietnam era. After his honorable discharge, he owned Eden Valley Canopies in Tangent. He later worked for Susan's Pilot Cars.

Mr. Bjornsen married Linda Hergert in Lebanon on Oct. 16, 1975. He is survived by his wife Linda of Lebanon; sons Daniel Hergert of Sweet Home and Fred Bjornsen, Jr. of Lebanon; daughter Danell Bjornsen of Portland; brother Morris Bjornsen of Blue Earth, Ariz.; sisters June Hogue of Bandon, Joyce Weatherly of Lebanon and Doris Rose of Lebanon; three grandchildren; close friends Susan and Dennis Tedasco; and his dog Dusty. His brother Clifford and sisters Junis Thieda and Karen Bjornsen died before he did.

The family requests memorial contributions be sent to the American Cancer Society or Samaritan Evergreen Hospice in care of Huston-Jost Funeral Home, 86 W. Grant St., Lebanon Oregon.
