Mrs. J. H. Lage Died Wednesday

Mrs. J. H. Lage, 60, died at her home in Eagle Grove at 11 a. m. Wednesday. She had recently been operated for appendicitis and had returned home from the hospital. An unfavorable reaction set in which caused her death.

Funeral services will be held Saturday afternoon at the Kubitschek & Kastler Funeral Home. Interment will be in Rose Hill cemetery.

J. H. Lage, the husband and thirteen children survive. Mr. Lage moved his family here the first of last March on the Stueland farm he had purchased, just north of Calvary cemetery.

Obituary of Mrs. Lage

Augusta Witt was born in Germany on Feb. 8, 1878. She came to America with her parents in 1883 and settled in Carroll County, Iowa. Here she grew to womanhood and on April 14, 1896, was united in marriage with James H. Lage. They lived in Carroll county 8 years, then in Dallas county 5 years, and in 1916 moved to Franklin county near Latimer, where they lived until last spring. Mrs. Lage passed away on June 8, 1938. Thirteen children were born to this union 8 sons and 5 daughters, all-living. The daughters are Mrs. Karl Goldberg [Guldberg], Coulter; Mrs. H. N. Miller, Leland; Mrs. Will Dreyer, Sheffield; Mrs. Richard Martin, Alameda, Calif., Mrs. Morris Givens, Latimer. The sons are R. C. Lage, Irvington; James Lage, Latimer; Max Lage, Sheffield; Jesse Lage, Marshalltown, Earl Page [Lage], Thornton; Kenneth Lage, Nashua; Howard and Leland at home. There remain besides her husband and children 21 grandchildren, 3 sisters and 2 brothers.

Funeral services were held Saturday afternoon at Kubitschek & Kastler Funeral home in charge of Rev. Tumbleson. Interment was in Rose Hill cemetery.
