Mrs. C. O. Eastness Died Last Saturday

Mrs. C. O. Eastness died Saturday morning in the home maintained by her brother and sisters near Callender. Funeral services were held Monday afternoon from the Eagle Grove Evangelical Lutheran church. Burial was in the family lot in Rose Hill cemetery.

Obituary

Julia Overland was born Oct. 21, 1862, in Telemarken, Vinje Parish, Upper Hardanger, Norway to the parents Ole Haraldson and his wife Gunnild and died at the home of her brother and sisters near Callender, Iowa, Saturday morning Dec. 17, 1938, at the age of 76 years, 1 month and 26 days.

She received the Christian baptism in the Grungedahl church of the Vinje Parish; she also received instruction and confessed her Christian faith in the Vinje church of the same parish. And by the grace of God she lived true to this confession until her death.

Her mother died when Julia was 12 years of age. She was the only child left. Her father remarried and the family came to America to near Callender, Iowa, where Julia worked for some years in Fort Dodge and later in Eagle Grove, July 10, 1907, she was united in marriage to Charles O. Eastness and has lived in Eagle Grove, where Eastness passed away on Friday, Feb. 7, 1936.

She has been bedfast for the past six months. She is now survived by her brother Harold Overland, two sisters, Nellie and Inger.

Funeral services were held Monday afternoon, Dec. 18 from the Eagle Grove Evangelical Lutheran church. Burial was made in the family lot in Rose Hill cemetery.
