Obituary of Mrs. G. C. McVicker.

Rhoda Eva Petticrew, was born December 13, 1867, at Fort Scott, Kansas, and died at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Edith Horton in Eagle Grove, Iowa, July 7th, 1937 at the age of 69 years, 6 months and 24 days.

She grew to womanhood at Fort Scott, Kansas, where she was united in marriage with G. C. McVicker October 13, 1886. To them were born one son and three daughters. After their marriage they went to Ree Heights, S. D., where they made their first home on a farm for four years, when they moved to Eagle Grove, Iowa, where they have since resided.

She united with the First Methodist Episcopal church in Eagle Grove during the pastorate of Rev. John Southwell in 1896 and has remained in that fellowship until the end.

She was a kind and loving wife and mother and was very devoted to her home and her loved ones. She was in very good health apparently until about five weeks ago when she was confined to her bed. She was taken to Iowa City for examination and treatment but was not making any improvement so was returned to Eagle Grove on Wednesday afternoon, July 7th, and passed away during the night of that day.

She leaves to mourn her going her beloved husband with whom she had lived for more than fifty years, they having celebrated their golden anniversary in October last year. She is also survived by her two daughters, Mrs. Edith Horton of Eagle Grove, Iowa, and Mrs. Delia Rounds of Dumont, Iowa, and one son, Archie McVicker of Marion, Ohio, one daughter Blanche McVicker proceeded her in death 16 years ago. She also leaves 17 grand children and 9 great grandchildren.
