Maynard James Dearchs was born October 25, 1936, at Algona, Iowa, the son of Claude and Margaret (Hofius) Dearchs. He served his country in the United States Army for three years and was united in marriage to Sharon Gregory, March 19, 1956, at Lone Rock. The couple lived in Maryland for a time and then moved to Eagle Grove, where he owned and operated an automotive radiator repair shop. Mr. and Mrs. Dearchs operated a malt shop at Eagle Grove until 1980, when failing health caused him to retire.
Maynard Dearchs, a member of the United Methodist Church and a resident of Humboldt for three years, died at the Humboldt County Memorial Hospital on the morning of May 12, 1987, at the age of 50 years.
Mr. Dearchs is survived by his wife, Sharon, children, Steven Dearchs of Des Moines, Mrs. Michael (Robin) Walters of Goldfield, and Mrs. John (Jolene) Lauer of Waukee; brothers, Charles Dearchs of Algona, Raymond Dearchs of Baltimore, Md., and Marvin Dearchs of Saucien, Miss.; sisters, Lucille Moore of Manhattan Beach, Calif., Ruth Casey of DeFuniak Springs, Fla., Mary Lea Cumpston of Littleton, Colo., Betty Hutchins of Gary, Ind., and Jane Hlad of Sylvan Grove, Kans.
Services were held at the United Methodist Church in Humboldt May 14, 1987 at 2 pm with Rev. Russell Dilley and Rev. David Nolte officiating. The Lindhart Funeral Home of Humboldt was in charge of arrangements.
