MARY GROSS WIGGINS
Mary Harriet Gross was born February 9, 1909, to Verna Belle Pickering Gross and Charles Ellsworth Gross at what is now the Lyle Gross home just south of Eagle Grove. Upon her mother's death, her father married Mary Born and they raised their young family in the house they built at 1100 West Broadway in Eagle Grove. Mary graduated from Eagle Grove High School in 1927. She was also a member of the first graduating class of the Eagle Grove Junior College in 1930. She married Arthur Lyle Wiggins, January 2, 1935, at Rockford, Ill. They lived for a time in Hastings, Minn., before moving to Clarion where they established the Wiggins Electric Company. They have continued to live in Clarion. They have spent their winters in College Station, Texas with their younger son and his family.

Mary Harriet Wiggins died October 21, 1989 at College Station at the age of 80. She was preceded in death by two brothers, William and Edward Gross; and an infant sister, Verna. She is survived by her husband; two sons, James Arthur, who teaches at the University of North Carolina, and his wife, Beverly; Charles William, who is on the staff of Texas A & M, College Station, Texas, and his wife Jane; six grandchildren, Angila Erwin, Richmond, Va.; Scott Wiggins, Ted Wiggins, and Mary Beth Wurzbach, Dallas, Texas area; Breck Wiggins, Wilmington, N. C. ; and Whitney Wiggins, Atlanta, Ga.; one great-grandchild, Charles Wiggins; and two sisters of the second family, Margaret Orum, Yuma, Ariz.; and Dorothy Hanson, Edina, Minn.

A Memorial Service was held at the Eyler-Willim Funeral Home Chapel in Clarion. She was buried at Rose Hill Cemetery, Eagle Grove on October 25. Memorial gifts may be sent to the hospital Care Center in Clarion.
