MRS. HESKETT FUNERAL HELD FRIDAY P. M.

Cancer Proves Fatal to Eagle Grove Woman After Two Year Struggle Death Came Aug. 15.

Mrs. Tillie Heskett died at the home of her sister, Mrs. Caroline Horan last week Wednesday afternoon. For nearly two years she had been suffering from a cancer and one time it was thought its ravages had been stopped. Late July she moved to Champaign, Ill., to give her children the benefit of a university education, but was compelled to give up her home there several months ago. She sold her furniture and returned to Eagle Grove where she passed away after a brave but futile struggle.

Tillie Lavin-Heskett was born in Canada and moved with her parents to the United States when she was but two years of age. The family eventually settled in Humboldt county in Waucousta, township. From there she moved to Livermore and from Livermore to Eagle Grove in 1912. She is survived by her three daughters, Ellen, Sevilla and Stella, and two foster sons, Edward Burmeister and [unreadable] Heskett. Besides her five children there lives to mourn their loss three brothers and three sisters.

Funeral services were held at the Sacred Heart church last Friday morning. At her special request Ray and Don Horan assisted Father Nolan at the altar. Those attending the funeral from out of the city were Mr. and Mrs. Williams and Mrs. George Turner of Fort Dodge, Joe Horan and wife of Clarion, Mrs. Huser and daughter, Etta of Des Moines, Miss Huser sang in the Sacred Heart choir at the funeral services. Burial was in Calvary cemetery.

Mrs. Heskett was a kindly sympathic woman. In addition to providing for her own children after the death of their father, she adopted two homeless orphans and gave them every possible comfort and advantage. The sympathy of the entire community I extended the bereaved relatives and friends.
