THE ARCHBISHOP VISITS OUR CITY
Confirms Large Class Attends Banquet and Lectures on The Divinity of Christ.
The visit of the Most Reverend J. J. Keane, Archbishop of the diocese of Dubuque, to our city Tuesday was an event never to be forgotten by hundreds of people of this city and community. He came by Invitation of the Knights of Columbus and was entertained under their auspices.
Eleven priests were present from the surrounding parishes.
The great feature of Tuesday's services was the Archbishop's confirmation of the unprecedented large class for places and parishes of this size.
The confirmation ceremonies continued through the noon hour and were attended by large numbers of Catholics and non-Catholics.
The following is the roll of the class confirmed by the Archbishop.

DEATH AND FUNERAL OF MARY TERESE LAUGHLIN
Last Monday S. A. Laughlin received the sad news of the death of his daughter Mary at Dubuque. He immediately went to that city and arrived here with the remains Tuesday Morning. The funeral was held Wednesday morning at 9 o'clock at Sacred Heart church, and the interment was in Calvary cemetery. Rev. Father Nolan conducted mass and Rev. Father McDermott preached the sermon.
Mary Laughlin was the first born of Mr. and Mrs. S. A. Laughlin of this city. She had not been in normal health, since 9 years of age, having an incurable nervous malady. About eighteen months ago she was placed in a sanitarium at Dubuque where she could have proper care and treatment. She was born in Eagle Grove, January 31, 1891, and died at Dubuque, 4:30 p. m., August. 20th. She was confined to her bed about 10 days. She la survived by her parents and two brothers.
Mary was a very lovable girl, and won the warm friendship of all. She attended Sacred Heart school up to the 8th grade, and then her affliction necessitated her withdrawal from this school.
The bereaved family has the warm sympathy of the entire community in this sad affliction.
