Morse Fredrick Nielsen
5 July 1906 ---- 7 February 1995

Morse Fredrick Nielsen was born on July 5, 1906 to Hans P. and Mary C. Christiansen Nielsen in the Head Grove community southeast of Eagle Grove, Iowa. He received his education in the rural schools of Woolstock Township. He was united in marriage on June 6, 1930 to Beatrice Tveit. He farmed the Nielsen farm in Head Grove for 10 years and in 1939 moved to a farm he had purchased near Woolstock. He farmed there until semi-retirement in 1955.

He was vitally interested in the welfare of agriculture and spent considerable time promoting the cause of the National Farmer's Organization. He was a member of the Woolstock Farmer's Co-op Elevator and served on the board of directors. He was a member of the Eagle Grove Evangelical Lutheran Church and served on the board of trustees. He also acted as chairman of the building fund drive during construction of the
present church. He was a longtime member of the Eagle Grove Masonic Bower Lodge #464.

Morse Fredrick Nielsen entered the Rotary Ann Nursing Home on January 30, 1995 and died unexpectedly on February 7, 1995. He had attained the age of 88 years, 7 months, and 2 days. Survivors include his wife, Beatrice, Eagle Grove; one son, Arlis Nielson of Woolstock; one daughter, Janice Wilson and her husband Glen, Jr. of Forest City; six grandchildren; 5 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by ten brothers and sisters, Harold Nielsen, Raymond Nielsen, Luella Christiansen-Nelson, Alice Sebby, Blanche Rassmussen, Helen Johnson and four who died in infancy.

Funeral services were held on Saturday, February 11, 1995 at the Eagle Grove Evangelical Lutheran Church, Reverend Lyle Peters officiated the 1:30 p.m. service. Interment followed at Rose Hill Cemetery, Eagle Grove, Iowa. Willim Funeral Home in Eagle Grove was in charge of arrangements.
