Ruby Joseph, the daughter of Graham and Beatrice Thornsburg Joseph, was born on Jan. 8, 1900 in Marshall, Ill. The Joseph family moved to Iowa when she was a small child. She graduated from the Goldfield High School in 1919. Ruby attended college in Cedar Falls and became a school teacher and taught in the rural schools for several years. Later, she was employed in the Scott Store in Eagle Grove. In her younger years, she was an active member of the Goldfield Baptist Church and became a member of the Methodist Church in Eagle Grove and attended the worship services when she was able. She was a 50 year member of the Rebekah Lodge and was a member of the American Legion Auxiliary for many years.
Ruby had been a resident of the Clarion Care Center for the past six years. She died on Sunday afternoon, Sept. 16, 1984, at the Clarion Community Memorial Hospital at the age of 84 years, eight months and eight days.
She is survived by a brother, Roy and his wife, Mary Joseph of Eagle Grove; a niece and three nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, a sister, Golda Clark, and two brothers, John and Orval.
Funeral services for Miss Ruby Joseph, 84, of Eagle Grove, were held on Thursday, Sept. 20, 1984 at 1:30 p.m. in the Chapel of the United Methodist Church in Eagle Grove. Rev. Scott C. Hall officiated and burial was in the Glenwood Cemetery at Goldfield. Visitation was held on Wednesday at the Kastler-Babcock Funeral Home.
