Jake Lamfers
30 August 1902 ---- 19 September 1984Jake Lamfers, the son of Casper and Gertrude Terhark Lamfers, was born at Springfield, Ill., on August 30, 1902. He was married to Ethel Schaetzel on May 16, 1924 at Wimbledon, N.D. The family moved to Iowa about 1930 and lived in the Eagle Grove area until 1950 when they moved to Webster City. Mr. Lamfers was a section foreman for the railroad company for many years. Mrs. Lamfers died in 1972. He moved to Albuquerque, N.M. in 1978.
He died on Wednesday, Sept. 19, 1984 at the Four Seasons Nursing Center in Albuquerque of cancer at the age of 82 years and 19 days. Surviving are three daughters, Eunice (Mrs. George) Currier of Redondo Beach, Calif.; Betty (Mrs. Kenneth) Maude of Albuquerque, N.M.; Patricia Dunton of Albuquerque, N.M.; three sons, Jake Lamfers, Jr. of Long Beach, Calif.; Harold Lamfers of Salina, Kan: 12 grandchildren; 2 great grandchildren and other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his wife and 5 brothers and sisters.
Funeral services for Jake Lamfers, age 82, of Albuquerque and formerly of Eagle Grove and Webster City, were held on Saturday, Sept. 22, 1984 at 2 p.m. at the Kastler-Babcock Funeral Home in Eagle Grove. Rev. Scott C. Hall, pastor of the United Methodist Church officiated and burial was in the Rose Hill Cemetery, Eagle Grove.
