MANCHESTER. MASS. - Eugene L. Labus, 54, of Manchester, Mass., formerly of Des Moines, a private security guard and driver on an estate, died of a heart attack Tuesday in Beverly, Mass. Services will be at 1 p.m. Saturday at Hamilton's Funeral Home in Des Moines. Burial will be in Glendale Cemetery. Mr. Labus was born in Eagle Grove and lived in Des Moines 42 years before moving to Manchester less than a year ago. He was a retired police officer for the Des Moines Police Department. He was a member of Union Park Christian Church, a former member of the Des Moines Police Auxiliary and a veteran of the Korean War. Survivors include his wife, Carolyn; a daughter, Shar Lynn Cole of Des Moines; two sons, Scott of Cedar Rapids and Randy of Des Moines; his mother, Detta Labus of Des Moines; his father, Louis of Eagle Grove; and seven grandchildren. Friends may call after 2 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.
