5 February 1927 ---- 17 July 2003

Leo F. Russell, 76, of Eagle Grove, died Thursday, July 17, 2003 at the Hamilton County Hospital in Webster City. A Mass of Christian Burial was held Monday, July 21, 2003, at 10:30 a.m. at the Sacred Heart Catholic Church with Father David Beckman officiating. Visitation was held Sunday, July 20, from 5-8 p.m. at the Foust Funeral Home in Eagle Grove. A prayer service was held at 8 p.m. at the Foust Funeral Home in Eagle Grove.

He is survived by his wife, Louise, of Eagle Grove; nine children: Jackie Lockwood, and husband, Rick, of Easton, Kan., Tony Russell, and wife, Mary, of Twin Lakes, Iowa; Andy Russell, and wife, Marilyn, of Gilmore City, Paulette Cirksena, of Eagle Grove; Rachelle Chase, and husband, Keith, of Andover, Minn.; Marybeth Russell, of Eagle Grove; Patrick Russell, and wife, Laurie, of Eagle Grove; Paul Russell, of Eagle Grove; Suzanne Nelson, and husband, Shane, of Eagle Grove; sister, Shirley (Russell) Benton, and husband, Evan, of Eagle Grove; brother, Thomas Russell, and wife, Helen, of Twin Lakes, Wisc.; sister Marjorie (Russell) Handley of Capistrano, Calif.; sister, Kathy (Russell) Keeling, and husband, Bob, of Clarion, and sister-in-law Judy Russell of Clarion; grandchildren: Ben, Matt, Josh, Kelly, Amanda and husband, Jon, Melanie, Allison, Angie, and husband, Mike, Mark, Jason, Suzanne and husband Randy, Erik, Emily, Bryce, Nathan, Sarah, Kailee, Nicholas, Cody, Alexis, and Tom; and great-granddaughters: Ashley and Alecia. He was preceded in death by his parents, a brother, James, and a grandchild, Nikki Russell.

Leo F. Russell was born February 5, 1927, the son of Frank and Margueite (Mosher) Russell, in Clarion. Raised and educated in the area of his birth, Leo graduated from Clarion High School. He served in the United States Army during World War II. On September 18, 1948, he was united in marriage to Louise Benton, at the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Eagle Grove. They lived and raised their family in Eagle Grove. Leo worked as a truck driver for Umthun Trucking Company for 32 years, retiring in 1989. He was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church and served on parish council and as a Religious Ed. teacher.

Foust Funeral Home of Eagle Grove was in charge of the arrangements.
