Helmick A. Kvale Funeral Held In Holmes Church

Helmick A. Kvale, 74, died Sunday at his home, 618 N.W. 4th Street, after a short illness. He suffered a heart attack a few weeks ago and was hospitalized for several days but had returned home.

Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Wednesday at the Holmes Lutheran Church, with pastor Marvin L. Dooley, pastor of the Samuel and Holmes Lutheran Churches officiating. Burial was in the Holmes Cemetery.

Mr. Kvale, a retired farmer, is survived by his wife and four sons, Leslie of Goldfield; Harold of Thor; Kenneth of Eagle Grove; Norman of Goodell and one daughter, Mrs. Melvin Minikis of Thor. He is also survived by 13 grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.

He is also survived by four sisters and one brother who live in Norway. Mr. and Mrs. Kvale visited them last summer.

Mr. Kvale was born in Haugesund, Norway and was educated in the schools there. He came to the United States in 1913 and was married to Anna Oline [Olena] Olson in Eagle Grove on Sept. 8th, 1919. They farmed in the Holmes area for many years, and in 1955 moved to their home in Eagle Grove when he retired from farming.

He was a member of the Holmes Lutheran Church.

Obituary

Helmick Anator Kvale son of Aadne and Karen Stensnes Kvale, was born August 4, 1895 in Haugesund, Norway. He was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran faith in the Haugesund Lutheran Church in Norway.

Helmick came to the United States in 1913 and settled in Clarion, Iowa. He worked in the Holmes area.

Oh September 8, 1919 he was united in marriage to Anna Olena Olson at Eagle Grove and to this union four sons and one daughter were born.

They farmed around the Holmes area until 1955, when they moved to Eagle Grove.

Helmick entered into eternal rest at his home early Sunday morning, August 17, 1969. He was 74 years and 13 days of age at the time of his passing.

He was preceded in death by his parents, one brother and two sisters.

He leaves to mourn his passing his wife, Anna Olena, his children, Leslie of Goldfield, Clarice, Mrs. Melvin Minikis of Thor; Harold of Thor; Kenneth of Eagle Grove, and Norman of Goodell, 13 grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren. Also four sisters and one brother who are living in Norway.

Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Wednesday, August 20, 1969 at the Holmes Lutheran Church, with Rev. Marvin L. Dooley officiating. Interment was held on the family lot in the Holmes Cemetery.
