Lonning to celebrate100th birthday Esther Lonning of St. Charles, Mo., formerly of Eagle Grove, will celebrate her 100th birthday on November 11.

She moved to Eagle Grove at the age of two and lived in the same house on North Lincoln until she went to live with her son and daughter-in-law, Jim and Marian Lonning, in St. Charles in January of 1996.

Her health remains good and she looks forward to the weekly arrival of The Eagle Grove Eagle which she reads from cover-to-cover.

She is a life-long member of Samual Evangelical Lutheran Church in Eagle Grove.

Family and St. Charles friends will mark the event with a quiet celebration at the home of her children.

Esther J. Lonning, 102, of St Charles, died Monday (Dec. 9, 2002) at the home of her son in St. Charles.

Mrs. Lonning was a homemaker. She was a member of American Legion Auxiliary and various church organizations.

Visitation will be from 5 p.m. until the time of the funeral today at St. John United Church of Christ, Fifth and Jackson streets, St. Charles. The funeral will be held at 7 p.m. Burial will be at Rose Hill Cemetery in Eagle Grove, Iowa.

Among survivors are a son, James C. Lonning of St. Charles; two grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren.

Memorial contributions can be made to St. John United Church of Christ Building Fund or Unity Hospice in care of Alternative Funeral Services, 11 Droste Square, St. Charles, Mo. 63301.
