Evelyn Schipull Warmbier

September 5, 1924 --- August 5, 2019

Funeral services for Evelyn Warmbier are Saturday, Aug. 10, at 10:30 a.m. at Bethany Lutheran Church, Emmetsburg, with the Rev. Peter Morlock officiating. Interment is in East Lawn Cemetery, Algona. Visitation is 4-7 p.m., Friday, Aug. 9, at Martin-Mattice Funeral Home, Emmetsburg.

Evelyn Marguerite Schipull Warmbier, daughter of Jules F. and Helene J. (Hazemann) Pinkele, was born Sept. 5, 1924, at her family home near Eagle Grove, Iowa. She began her education in country school and graduated from Eagle Grove High School in 1943. During high school, Evelyn took normal training and went on to teach school in a one-room schoolhouse for two and a half years.

Evelyn moved to Des Moines where she worked in the hospital lab department and for an insurance company in Des Moines. She returned to Eagle Grove where she was employed as a clerk in the grocery store. On March 21, 1946, Evelyn was united in marriage to Lyle W. Schipull in Eagle Grove. Lyle had just returned from serving in the United State Army prior to their marriage. They were blessed with five children.

Lyle and Evelyn lived in various communities, including Lu Verne, Corwith, Irvington, Ringsted and Graettinger where they farmed. They retired in 1983 and built a new home in Algona. Lyle passed away Sept. 13, 1991, and Evelyn remained in Algona until 2017 when she moved to Emmetsburg. On April 4, 1998, Evelyn and Wayne Warmbier were married in Algona.

Evelyn was a devoted and faithful member of the First Lutheran Church in Algona and the VFW Auxiliary in Algona. She received many awards for her volunteer service to countless organizations, some of which included R.S.V.P., Senior Center, Algona Chamber of Commerce, Kossuth Regional Hospital, Algona food pantry, Meals on Wheels, Algona Manor and Good Samaritan nursing homes.

Evelyn enjoyed playing cards, going fishing and traveling. She was an avid gardener and canned the produce she grew. Evelyn did countless jigsaw puzzles and enjoyed playing bingo, doing word searches and crossword puzzles. She always looked forward to the bus trips to the casino in Tama.

Evelyn passed away Monday, Aug. 5, 2019, at Lakeside Lutheran Home in Emmetsburg at the age of 94. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husbands, Lyle Schipull and Wayne Warmbier; daughter-in-law, Leanna Schipull; sisters, Elise Pinkele, Adele (Benny) Duitscher, Dorothy (Eugene) Mikelson and Yvonne (Bernard) Skadburg; brother, Louis (Geneva) Pinkele; brothers-in-law, Raymond (Grace) Schipull, Ralph (Marilyn) Schipull and Otto Schipull; sisters-in-law, Velva (Fred) Lupkes and Viola (Henry “Short”) Hefty; nieces, Jennie Schipull, Sharon Schipull and Debra Schipull; and nephews, Douglas Pinkele and William Schipull.

She is survived by her children, Michael Schipull of Emmetsburg, Duane (Cheryl) Schipull of Davenport, Elaine (David) Sidles of Emmetsburg, Merle Schipull of Algona and Craig Schipull of Shelby; stepson, Terry (Carol) Warmbier of Grimes; six grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren, Robert (Jenna) Schipull, David (Brandice) Schipull and their children Samuel and Lucille, Alan (Heidi Brehm) Vaughn and their children Reilin and Avery, Andres (Natalie) Vaughn and their children Carter and Ella, Hannah Warmbier (Tanner Chartier) and their daughter Halley, and Austin Warmbier (Wendy Grimm); sister-in-law, Marilyn Schipull; and numerous nieces and nephews; as well as other relatives and friends.

Arrangements are by the Martin-Mattice Funeral Home, Emmetsburg, Iowa.
