OBITUARY OF ERNEST EDGAR LITTELL
The Eagle last week chronicled the death of Ernest Littell. He had been ill but three days and on the day of his death was able to be up and around. He came down stairs that morning and laid down on the lounge, but grew rapidly worse and death relieved his sufferings that same evening. Pneumonia following an attack of flu was the cause of his untimely death.

He was a member of the class of 1924 and active in all high school activities including football and track. He was also an efficient member of the local DeMolay chapter, in which organization he was an active worker. He was a member of the Congregational church and the Congregational Sunday School.

Ernest Edgar Littell was born Oct. 15, 1903, at Audubon, Iowa, moving with his parents to Eagle Grove several years ago. He was 19 years, 9 months and 24 days of age at the time of his death Wednesday, Aug. 8, 1923. He leaves to mourn his death his sorrowing parents, Mr. and Mrs. Fred Littell, his brother, George, and sister, Vivian.

Funeral services were Held at the home and in the Congregational church Sunday afternoon and the burial was in Rose Hill cemetery. Rev. Muhleman of the Methodist church had charge. The DeMolay order attended the funeral in a body and the pallbearers were from that order and intimate friends of the
deceased.

It is a sad duty to chronicle the death of so clean, steady and reliable a young man as Ernest Littell. He had no bad habits, was a faithful worker, and loyal to his home and to his associates. The bereaved relatives have the sincere sympathy of all in their great sorrow.

ERNEST LITTELL DIES SUDDENLY
Succumbs to Pneumonia After Brief Illness of Only
Four Days

The city was saddened last evening by the death of Ernest Littell, youngest son of Mr. and Mrs. Frank Littell of South Cadwell avenue. He died at the home of his parents about 7:30 Wednesday evening after being sick with pneumonia only four days. He was first taken sick Saturday and even on the day of his death it was not known his condition was serious as he was out of bed some Wednesday morning.

Ernest was a strong, clean lad only 19 years of age, and would have been a senior in Eagle Grove high school this fall. In high school he has been prominent in all athletics and not a cleaner, squarer athlete ever participated for Eagle High than Ernest Littell. He was assured a steady berth as center on the high school football team this fall and was looking forward to the season with keen anticipation.

The Eagle feels a special loss in the taking away of this sterling young man as he has given much valuable service to us helping out in rush times in our work, and also as art editor of the high school paper, which was printed by the Eagle.

He is survived by a father, mother, one brother George, and sister Vivian. As we go to press no funeral arrangements have been made because of inability to get into communication with Mr. Littell, who is in Minnesota on a business trip.

The Eagle joins the many friends in extending sincere sympathy to this bereaved family.
