VEDA DAVIS
Veda LaVon Fortune, daughter of Frank and Tressa (McFarland) Fortune, was born May 19, 1912, on a farm near Homer. She was educated in Stanhope. She married Clair Davis on January 17, 1931, in Fort Dodge. The couple farmed near Stanhope, and moved to Webster City in 1939, where she was employed at Morton Frozen Foods for several years, and at the Hamilton County Hospital for 10 years. The couple retired and moved to Woolstock in 1976, later moving to Neosho, Mo., in 1978. She was a member of the Church of Christ of Webster City. She was a member of six Webster City area saddle clubs.

Veda Davis, 78, died Sunday morning, August 26, 1990, at St. John's Medical Center in Joplin, Mo. She had been in failing health for seven years. She was preceded in death by her parents. She is survived by her husband; two daughters, Mrs. Keith (Doris) Hedrick, Klamath Falls, Ore.; and Donna Odland, Neosho; four grandchildren; three great grandchildren; a great great granddaughter; a brother, Verdis Fortune; and nieces and nephews.

Funeral services were held Friday, August 31, at 1:30 p.m. at the Foster Funeral Home in Webster City. Ray Artrip officiated and burial was in Graceland Cemetery.
