Mary Jensen Christensen
9 October 1867 --- 20 January 1939Mrs. Peter Christensen died at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Andrew Schillinger of Des Moines, after several months of illness of pernicious anemia.
Mary Jensen was born in Wedum, Denmark October 9, 1867 and passed away at the age of 71 years, 3 months and 11 days. She was confirmed in the Lutheran faith. She came to this country at the age of 17 and was united in marriage to Peter Christensen on May 18, 1888 in Omaha, Nebr. They moved to Iowa in 1889 and lived on the farm near Hardy until 1911, when they moved to Eagle Grove where she had resided since. Seven children were born to this union: James of Des Moines, Tony of Ames, Mrs. Andrew Schillinger of Des Moines, Mrs. L. P. Brons of Fort Dodge, Maybelle of Des Moines, Walter of Chicago and Arthur who passed away Dec. 28th, 1936, at Cheyenne, Wyo.
Mrs. Christensen was always kind and pleasant, a loving Christian mother and devoted wife. She will be greatly missed by all who knew her.
The survivors are her husband, six children, and eight grandchildren.
Services were held at Wilson's Chapel Sunday afternoon at 2 o'clock and burial was made on the family lot in Rosehill cemetery, Eagle Grove. Services were in charge of Rev. J. R. Tumbleson of the local Methodist church.
