Funeral services will be at 2 o’clock this (Thursday) afternoon in the Congregational church for Mrs. John McDonald. The Rev. Dale Brown will officiate.
Mrs. McDonald died Sunday evening at her home. She had not been well for several months.
Mrs. McDonald is survived by her husband and nieces and nephews.
Interment will be in Rose Hill cemetery.

July 14, 1955Ethyl (Livergood) McDonald, daughter of Silas and Nellie (Cutler) Livergood, was born at Decatur, Ill., April 9, 1876 and passed away at her home in Eagle Grove, Iowa, at 6:45 p. m. Saturday, July 10, 1955. She came to Iowa with her parents in 1883, where they first lived near Ackley and then later in Iowa Falls where she attended the public schools and graduated in Iowa Falls. She then took special work at Ellsworth college and also attended the Nora Springs Seminary, She became a teacher in the rural schools near Iowa Falls for a short time and later taught at Rock Falls and the Eagle Grove schools.
She was married June 19, 1900 at Nora Springs to John McDonald of Eagle Grove. They became the parents of a daughter Nellie who died in infancy.
Mrs. McDonald was a member of the First Congregational church and for a time was superintendent of the Sunday school and later taught a girls Sunday school class. She also was very active in other community affairs, being a member of the Eagle Grove school board for nine years. She was a 50 year member and Past Worthy Matron of Eagle Chapter 114 Order of the Eastern Star, and was instructor in the Grand Chapter of Iowa and was elected and served as Grand Esther. Mrs. McDonald also was a member of Sharon Shrine No. 14 of the White Shrine, a member of Mary Brewster Chapter D. A. R. of Humboldt, a Past President of the G. I. A. of the B. of L. E. and a past president and a 50 year member of the Equality club.
She was always interested in historical events and a few years ago she spent much time and research on her own family history and compiled and published a book on her family "The Descendants of the Livergood Family."
Mrs. McDonald was of a family of four children and was preceded in death by her father and mother, three brothers Ruby, George and Carl Livergood, and her infant daughter Nellie and is survived by her husband John McDonald, two nieces and a nephew Mrs. Nellie Wilcox and Richard Livergood of Stevensville, Montana, and Mrs. Ruby Sparks of San Francisco, California, a foster daughter Mrs. Clifford (Marie) Olson of Goldfield.
The Eastern Star held a memorial service for Mrs. McDonald on Wednesday evening at 8 o'clock at the Kastler Funeral home and other services in charge of Rev. Dale Brown were held from the Congregational church on Thursday afternoon at 2 p. m. Interment was in Rose Hill cemetery.
In attendance from out of the city were Mrs. Nellie Wilcox of Stevensville, Mont., Mr. and Mrs. Clifford Olson and Mr. and Mrs. Duane Olson of Goldfield, Mr. and Mrs. Verle Lenz of Story City, Mr. and Mrs. Elwood White of New Providence, Mr. and Mrs. Elliott Stutters and family of Clarion.
