3 June 1915 ---- 16 April 1980

Wallace Andrew (Bill) Larson, the son of Lars Bernhardt and Hazel Minnie Hill Larson, was born on June 3, 1915 at Webster City, Iowa. He died on Wednesday afternoon, April 16, 1980, at the Trinity Regional Hospital in Fort Dodge, after suffering a heart attack. He attained the age of 64 years, ten months and 13 days.

He attended the Eagle Grove schools. On September 29, 1935, he was united in marriage with Lorena Stafford at Eagle Grove. During his life, Bill was employed at the Eagle Grove Creamery and for many years at the Blake Lumber Co. He farmed for several years and later owned and operated the Easy-Way Disposal Service. In 1973, he suffered his first heart attack and was forced to sell the business and become semi-retired. During the time he operated the Disposal Service, he also drove a school bus and served one term as mayor of Eagle Grove. For the past 12 years, he and his wife have owned and operated the B and L Center Hobby Shop. He had a tool sharpening, picture framing service located in the back of the hobby shop. He loved to work with his hands and marketed picture frames, macrame and paintings of his own making at the shop and a large variety of thriving plants fill his home.

For many years he was a member of the Eagle Grove Saddle Club. A knee injury curtailed his ability to ride horses and he also worked on weekends at the Sale Barn, showing horses at the auctions. He loved people, especially children, animals, and growing things. Mr. Larson had been home from the hospital only a few weeks after a previous heart attack.

Surviving are his wife, Lorena Larson of Eagle Grove; his daughters, Sherry McGovern of Clarion; Mrs. Robert (Wanda) Darland of Tillamook, Ore.; nine grandchildren; five sisters - Mrs. Gale (Lila) Frakes of Eagle Grove; Mrs. Don (Betty) Conaway of Eagle Grove; Mrs. Richard (Lois) Sumners of Torrance, Calif.; Mrs. Joe (Sonia) Martini of Langhorn, Pa.; Mrs. Ernie (Nelda) Kiley of Eagle Grove; four brothers, Earl Larson of Woolstock, Lars Larson Jr. of Vine Grove, Ky., Melvin Larson of Coatsville, Pa., Richard Larson of Webster City. He was preceded in death by his parents and a sister; Hazel Clagett.

Funeral services for W.A. "Bill" Larson were held at the United Methodist Church in Eagle Grove on Monday afternoon, April 21, 1980, at 2 p.m. The Rev. Don Callen officiated and the burial was in the Rose Hill Cemetery at Eagle Grove. The visitation was held at the Kastler-Babcock Funeral Home.
