James H. McCart, 83, died Saturday at Trinity Hospital, Fort Dodge. He had been in failing health for some time.
Funeral services were held Monday at the United Methodist Church in charge of Rev. Donald Glazier. Burial was in Rose Hill Cemetery.
Mr. McCart is survived by his wife, one son, George McCart, one daughter, Mrs. Richard Dyas, both, of Eagle Grove, one sister, Mrs. Rachel Munday of Orleans, Ind., nine grandchildren and 1 great grandchild.
Mr. McCart came to Eagle Grove in 1914 and began farming, the occupation he continued for 38 years.
Mr. and Mrs. McCart retired many years ago and moved to their Eagle Grove home. He was a Veteran of World War I, and a 50 year member of the American Legion and the Methodist Church.
Obituary
James Henry McCart was born March 6, 1893 at Trinity Springs, Ind., the son of Daniel and Ella Hislip McCart.
He received his education at Trinity Springs.
He came to the Eagle Grove area in 1914, then returned to the Trinity Springs area in 1920, where he married Amanda Marley of Trinity Springs on December 23.
The couple returned to Troy Township, Wright County, and farmed for 38 years, before retiring to Eagle Grove.
Mr. McCart served in the U.S. Army in World War I.
He died at the Trinity Regional Hospital, Ft. Dodge, on Saturday, April 17, at the age of 83 years, 1 month, and 11 days.
He is survived by his wife, son, George McCart, Eagle Grove; one daughter, Annis, Mrs. Richard Dyas, Eagle Grove; one sister, Mrs. Rachel Mundy, Orleans, Ind.; nine grandchildren and one great grandchild.
He was preceded in death by his parents; one daughter, Doris, Mrs. Max West; two brothers and one sister.
Mr. McCart was a member of the United Methodist Church, a 50 year member of the American Legion, and a charter member of the Over 60 Club.
Funeral services were held at 1:30 p.m. on Monday, April 19, at the United Methodist Church, Eagle Grove. Rev. Donald Glazier officiated and burial was in Rose Hill Cemetery, Eagle Grove.
