Frank McCabe was born July 23, 1838, in County Killare, near Dublin, Ireland. He came to America in 1847 and settled at Leon, Wis. He was united in marriage to Miss Effie Gamble and together they continued their stay on the farm there till two years later, in 1868, when they took up a homestead near Gary, S. D. They remained in the one place for 36 years, then retired from the farm and moved to Dell Rapids, S. D. where they lived for ten years. In 1914 they moved to Eagle Grove, where they have since lived.

One child was born to Mr. and Mrs. McCabe, which died in infancy.

Mr. McCabe passed away Sunday, October 15th, 1922, at the age of 84 years, 2 months and 22 days. He leaves his wife and an adopted son, Leonard McCabe, of Sioux City; two brothers, John, of College View, Neb., and Peter, of Sparta, Wis., to mourn their loss.

Funeral services were held in the M. E. church Tuesday afternoon at 1:30 o’clock. The sermon was preached by Rev. W. G. Muhleman from Rev. 7:4.

Interment was made in Rose Hill cemetery.
