September 22, 1842 --- June 14, 1934

Effie Ann Gamble was born in Providence, R. I., Sept. 22, 1842, and died at her home in Eagle Grove, Iowa, Thursday evening, June 14, after a brief illness, aged 91 years, 9 months and 8 days.

She moved with her parents as a small child to Portage City, Wis., where she grew to womanhood and on Feb 22, 1866, was united in marriage to Frank McCabe at Sparta, Wis. They made their first home at Leon, Wis., where they lived until 1868, when they took up their residence on a homestead near Gary, So. Dak., where they remained for 36 years until they retired from the farm and moved to Dell Rapids, So. Dak., and lived ten years, moving to Eagle Grove in 1914, where they have since resided.

One child was born to Mr. and Mrs. McCabe which died In infancy.

In 1927, Mrs. McCabe broke her hip and has been confined to her home ever since. Since the death of her husband in 1922, she has been tenderly cared for by one of her nieces, Mrs. Frances Cran. In her sickness she was always cheerful and courageous and willing to take her share, whatever it might be.

Mrs. McCabe was a member of the local Methodist church and a member of the Relief Corps.

Mrs. McCabe is the last of her immediate family. Her four brothers and two sisters have preceded her in death. She is survived by a number of nieces and nephews and a host of friends and neighbors, who will be lonely at her passing, but thankful for the memory of a long and useful life.
