Harold A. McBeth, 83, of the IOOF Home in Mason City, died at Mercy Hospital in Mason City on Wednesday afternoon, October 3, 1979. Services were conducted by Rev. Lynn Ryon, of the United Church Congregational in Clarion on Saturday, Oct. 6, 1979 at 1:30 p.m. at the Chapel of the Eyler-Willim Funeral Home. Burial was in Rose Hill Cemetery in Eagle Grove.
Pall bearers were Vernon and Phillip Smith, Robert Sharp, Terry and Michael Armour and Myron Hill, Jr.
Born on a farm near Galt on December 26, 1895 he was the son of Jacob A. and Carrie Chapman McBeth and was raised and educated in the Clarion area. He served with the Army in World War #1 and was later with both the Great Western and Northwestern railroads. On December 26, 1953 he was married to Adelia Hill Hemenway at Lehigh where they lived for a short time. They later lived at Maxwell and he operated a digging machine there. For the past 5½ years they had made their home at the IOOF Home.
He was a member of the IOOF Lodge and American Legion in Mason City. They were members of the United Methodist Church in Maxwell.
His wife survives with one step-son, Edward Hemenway of New Berlin, Wisconsin. There are three grandchildren, one sister, Mrs. Ernest (Georgia) Sharp of Clarion, and a brother, Alex J. of Seneca, Illinois.
His parents, one brother and one sister preceded him in death.
