MASON CITY – Leslie E. Pals, 90, of Mason City, passed away Thursday, July 18, 2019 at Good Shepherd Health Center in Mason City. Funeral services will be held 10:30 A.M., Monday, July 22, 2019 at First Reformed Church in Meservey with Rev. Rodney Meester officiating. Burial will be at the Meservey Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 3 to 5 P.M., Sunday, July 21st at Major Erickson Funeral Home and Crematory, 111 N. Pennsylvania Ave., Mason City and will resume one hour prior to services at the church. Memorials may be directed to First Reformed Church or MercyOne Hospice of North Iowa.

Leslie Edwin Pals, the son of Hilko and Tillie (Blau) Pals, was born July 7, 1929 on a farm in Wisner Township, Franklin County. He attended Wisner Township No. 4 country school near Meservey until the eighth grade. On November 21, 1948 he married Norma Morris at Salem Methodist Church in Meservey. They farmed in the Meservey area for 35 years before moving to Mason City in 1993. Leslie also did carpentry work around Mason City for 15 years. After Norma passed away in 1994, he continued to live in Mason City. On May 3, 1997 he married Maureen Everhart. Leslie enjoyed his family and traveling.

He was a member of First Reformed Church in Meservey.

Leslie is survived by his three children, Nancy (Phillip) McLaughlin of Thornton, Jeffrey (Mary) Pals of Mason City and Bart (Jody) Pals of Mason City; eight grandchildren, Craig (Susan) McLaughlin and their three children, Ashly, Chase and Giselle, Jane McLaughlin and her two children, Emily and Madeline, Tjaden (Alycia) Pals and their two children, Jurgen and Ira, Arika (Eli) McGallian and their two children, Dylan and Lilly, Jessica (Aaron) Post and their three children, Hannah, Connor and Max, Jonathan Harvey, Katie Pals and Logan (Kathrine) Pals and their son, Samuel; a sister, Viola Barkema of Belmond; a sister-in-law, Wilma Hulick of Rochester, NY; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; first wife, Norma, Oct. 25, 1994; second wife, Maureen, Apr. 4, 2010; grandson, Tanner Pals; nine brothers; and four sisters. Arrangements are with Major Erickson Funeral Home and Crematory.
