January 14, 1866 --- December 8, 1943

Erick Rossum was born January 14, 1866, at Hadeland, Norway, and died at the home of his daughter, Mr. and Mrs. Wilbur Baker, Eagle Grove, Iowa, Dec. 8, 1943, at the age of 76 years, 10 months and 24 days. He received the Christian baptism, was taught the way of salvation in Christ, and confessed his Christian faith in his youth.

At the age of 18 he came to America, to Lincoln county, S. Dak. On Sept. 28, 1894, he was united in marriage to Miss Anne Regina Anderson, at the St. Olaf Lutheran Church, Sioux Falls, S. Dak. Mr. and Mrs. Rossum lived at Hudson, S. Dak., and Hawarden, Iowa, before coming to Eagle Grove about two years ago, where he now passed away.

He is survived by his beloved wife; four sons, Laurence Rossum, Rapid City, S. Dak., Arthur Rossum, Omaha, Neb., Norris Rossum, Chicago Heights, Ill., and Ralph Rossum, in the armed service of our country, and by one daughter, Mrs. Millie Baker, Eagle Grove, Ia. Two children have passed away before him. He is also survived by seven grandchildren, and by three brothers, Ole Rossum, Carson, N. Dak.; Andrew Rossum, Minneapolis, Minn.; Christ Rossum, Evansville, Minn., and by one sister, Mrs. Marie Pflinger, Carson, N. D.

It was not our privilege to know Mr. Rossum until he moved to Eagle Grove. But we knew him now during his illness. He bore his condition very patiently. We learned to know him as an honest, kindhearted and true gentleman. He was a devoted husband and we are sure a kind father. He was an active member of the Lutheran church where he lived. He appreciated the ministry of the word of God brought to him.

Funeral services were held Saturday afternoon from the Eagle Grove Evangelical Lutheran church and burial was made in the Rose Hill cemetery.
