Emma Christensen Groom
28 June 1900 --- 19 June 1962

Mrs. Emma Groom, 61, resident director of the YWCA in Fort Dodge died unexpectedly early Tuesday at Mercy hospital, only a few hours after entering. Funeral services will be at 1 pm Thursday at Eagle Grove Evangelical Lutheran church with the Rev. Kenneth R. Torvik officiating. Interment will be in Rose Hill cemetery at Eagle Grove.

The former Emma Christensen, Mrs. Groom was born at Soldier, Iowa. She married Milton Wayne Groom in 1919 at Ute where Mr. Groom purchased his first barber shop and his wife served as beautician. They later lived at Sioux City, Clarion and Eagle Grove where Mr. Groom died in 1954.

In 1956, Mrs. Groom moved to Ft. Dodge to become resident director of the YWCA.

Surviving are one daughter, Mrs. Ovid Toresdahl of Duncombe, one grandson, and two sisters, Mrs. Fred Briggs of Soldier and Mrs. Mark Dorothy of Ames.

Mrs. Groom was a member of the Eagle Grove Evangelical Lutheran church.
