Knut E. Rolland was born to the parents Anders and Martha Rolland March 28th, 1863 near Bergen, Norway, and died at his home in Eagle Grove, Iowa, March 22nd, 1939, age 75 years, 11 months and 22 days. He was baptized, received instruction and confessed the Christian faith.

On the 29th day of May, 1882, he was united in marriage to Miss Guri Hagen. Mr. and Mrs. Rolland lived in Norway after their marriage about four years, then they departed to America, coming to Bode, Iowa, in April, 1886. They remained in Bode about two years, then they lived at West Bend, Iowa, about three years and at Hardy two years, coming to Eagle Grove in 1894 which has since been their home.

Mrs. Rolland passed away May 21st, 1937. Mr. and Mrs. Rolland had no children. Dr. James Arne lived with them from the time he was five years old until he reached manhood, and now survives them. Mr. Rolland is also survived by one brother, Andrew Rolland, of Eagle Grove, and by a large number of friends and relatives.

Mr. Rolland was employed for many years by the C. & N. W. R. R. until he retired in 1931. He was a faithful and trusted worker, a very kind and gentle mannered man. The home of Mr. and Mrs. Rolland was a peaceful home, both were good neighbors. He served in various capacities in the church of which he was a member for many years, and was a faithful attendant at worship.

Funeral services were held Sunday, March 26. Burial was made in the family lot at the Rose Hill cemetery.
