Helen Kristina Rasmussen Folkedahl
22 May 1899 --- 11 February 1981

Helen Kristina Folkedahl, the daughter of Metz and Marie Madison Rasmussen, was born on May 22, 1899 near Hardy, Iowa. She passed away Wednesday afternoon, February 11, 1981, at the Rotary Ann Home in Eagle Grove, Iowa, at the age of 81 years, 8 months and 19 days.

Helen grew up in the Goldfield area and graduated from Goldfield High School in 1917. On July 1, 1923, she was united in marriage to Amos Henry Folkedahl at Des Moines, Iowa. They lived in Clarion a short time, where Amos was a brakeman for the Chicago Great Western Railroad. In 1924 they moved to a farm west of Goldfield. To this union were born two daughters, Helen Marie and Alice Harriett. The family farmed west of Goldfield until the passing of Mr. Folkedahl on March 29, 1944. In 1945, Helen and her daughters moved into Goldfield, where they made their home.

In June of 1980, Helen was hospitalized at the Clarion Hospital for two weeks. From there she was moved to the Clarion Care Center. In November, she was transferred to the Rotary Ann Home in Eagle Grove.

Helen was a member of the United Presbyterian Church and has served many years as church school secretary as well as a member of the communion committee, the Ellen McLaughlin Circle, United Presbyterian Women and the Oakdale DOC Club.

She is survived by her daughters, Helen Marie and her husband, Alvin Stueland and Alice Harriett and her husband, Ronald Ruiter, all of Goldfield; four grandchildren, Dianne Stueland Reichter, Dennis
Stueland, Karla Ruiter, and Kyle Ruiter; two great-granddaughters, Kristi and Kari Reichter. Also surviving are two brothers, Max Rasmussen of Glendale, Arizona and Marshall Rasmussen of Goldfield; a sister, Mrs. Gladys Douglas of Colorado Springs, Colo. She was preceded in death by her parents and an infant sister, Blanche.

Funeral services for Mrs. Helen K. Folkedahl were held on Saturday, Feb. 14, 1981 at 10:30 a.m. at the United Presbyterian Church in Goldfield. Rev. Francis Thorn officiated and burial was in the Rose Hill Cemetery, Eagle Grove. Visitation was held at the Kastler-Babcock Funeral Home in Eagle
Grove.
