March 22, 1880 --- June 10, 1964

Mrs. L. G. Focht, 84, died Wednesday morning at the Rotary Ann Home. Her death was sudden and, as she had not been ill, was unexpected. Attendants at the home had talked with her a few moments before her death.

Funeral services will be Saturday afternoon at 2 p.m. at the Sandvig Funeral Home. Rev. M. L. Blake will officiate.

Mrs. Focht is survived by one son Robert of Atlantic, two daughters Miss Helen Focht of Iowa City and Mrs. Insel Shanor of Corte Madera, Calif.

Mrs. Focht was the first resident in the new Rotary Ann Home.

Edna Ruth Persons, daughter of Alpheus Melvin Persons and Mary Deming Persons, was born in Muscatine county, Iowa, March 22, 1880. The family moved to Wilton Junction, Iowa in 1890 where she was a student in the schools of that city, graduating from the Academic course of the Wilton German English college in 1899.

She was married August 2, 1900 to Lawrence G. Focht, superintendent of schools in Wilton Junction, Iowa. During the summer of 1905 the family moved to Eagle Grove, Iowa, where Mr. Focht was superintendent of schools. Mrs. Focht was the mother of three children, Helen E. Focht, Robert A. Focht and Ruth Focht Shanor. She is also survived by six grandchildren and seven great grandchildren.

The Focht family were members of the Congregational church where Mrs. Focht served in different departments. She was a past president of the Missionary Society, treasurer of the Aid Society, and pianist of the Sunday school. She was a past matron of the Order of Eastern Star, and a past president of the P.E.O. Chapter.

Mrs. Focht died Wednesday, June 11[10], at the Rotary Ann Home in Eagle Grove.

Funeral services were held Saturday afternoon, June 13 at the Sandvig Funeral Home with the Rev. M. L. Blake officiating. Interment was in Rose Hill cemetery.

Miss Helen Focht of Iowa City, Mr. and Mrs. Robert Focht of Atlantic, and Mr. and Mrs. Insel Shanor and daughter Bobbie of Corte Madera, Calif., were here for the services.
