Obituary of Mrs. John Tyck

Elizabeth Victoria Hife was born at Dyersville, Iowa, April 7, 1861. She lived there for only a few years when she moved with her parents to Waterloo and from there to Hubbard and from that place to Iowa Falls. Thirty-five years ago last August she moved to Eagle Grove where she has since lived.

Forty-five years ago she was united in marriage to Geo. Tyck, who preceded her in death in June of 1925. One child was born to Mr. and Mrs. Tyck, John F. Tyck, of Turlock Calif. Mrs. Tyck was a member of the Methodist church. She joined many years ago and transferred here from Iowa Falls on June 9, 1895. She was also a member of the Ladies Auxiliary of B. of L. E.

Since her husband’s death she has spent some time with her loved ones on the coast, but last fall she returned to Eagle Grove. She took sick in January and passed away on April 19, 1927. It was her prayer that she might live until her son could arrive from California. This prayer was granted.

Mrs. Tyck was a good woman and never lost her faith in God but up until the very last expressed her hope in Christ as her savior.

Aside from her son she is survived by two brothers, Frank Hife of Alhambra, Calif., and Geo. Hife of Iowa Falls, also one grandson.

Funeral services were held in the Methodist church on Thursday, April 21, 1927. The sermon was preached by W. G. Muhleman and interment was made in Rose Hill cemetery.
