June 5, 1920 --- June 25, 2019

Jean Beatrice Sheller, 99, Port Orchard, Washington, died June 25, 2019 at Harbor Heritage Adult Family Home in Gig Harbor. A celebration of life was held July 3 at Rill’s Life Tribute Center.

Jean was born June 5, 1920 in Belmond, Iowa to Jovial and Edith Soma. She was baptized at St. Olaf Lutheran and confirmed at Trinity Lutheran Church. She graduated from Belmond High School in 1938. On March 29, 1942 Jean married Earl Sheller. They lived in Belmond where Jean was a homemaker. The couple moved to San Jose, CA in 1966 and to Port Orchard in 1992. Earl passed away on Dec. 11, 1996.

Jean was a loving, thoughtful and supportive wife, mother, grandmother and friend. She enjoyed reading, listening to music, reading the Bible, and collecting dolls, Precious Moments figures, and all things pretty. Her smile was contagious and she became quick friends with everyone she met. She was a member of Bethany Lutheran Church.

Preceding her in death were her husband; sisters Joan Soma (infant), Ardell Kinseth and Inez Pasquariello, and brother Irvin Soma. Surviving Jean are her children Keith (Cathy) Sheller of Bellingham, WA, Dale (Gail) Sheller of Crystal River, FL, and Janis (Craig) Corey of Port Orchard; grandchildren Todd Sheller, Sara (Troy) Middleton, Jennifer (Jeff) Fry, Kimberly Sheller, Christopher (Reghann) Corey and Lisa (Chad) Prewitt; and great-grandchildren Everett Prewitt, William Corey, Anneliese Corey, Avery Prewitt, Maxwell Corey, Emmett Prewitt and Carolyn Fry.

The family would like to thank all who shared their love, friendship and support throughout the years. They would also like to express a special note of gratitude to those who cared for and comforted Jean during her struggle with Alzheimers Disease and failing health, especially Dr. Frederick Albrecht, Pastor David Locklair, all of the caregivers at Harbor Heritage Adult Family Home, and the CHI Franciscan Hospice Team.

Memorials are suggested to CHI Franciscan Foundation (Hospice Care), the Alzheimers Association, or Bethany Lutheran Church of Port Orchard.
