Graveside rites for Lillian Sorenson

Graveside rites for Mrs. Lillian Borwey Sorenson, formerly of Eagle Grove, were held Saturday afternoon at Rose Hill Cemetery.

Mrs. Sorenson, 84, died Thursday evening, June 17, at Trinity Hospital, Fort Dodge, where she had been a patient for a short time.

She is survived by two sons: John B. Borwey, Fort Dodge; and Thomas Borwey, Mojave, Calif, and a half sister, Ruth Walrod, Madelia, Minn. Also seven grandchildren, step-children and grandchildren.

Funeral services were held Saturday at 2 p.m. at the Chapel on The Hill, Friendship Haven, Fort Dodge, with the Rev. Robert McCannon, pastor of the Epworth United Methodist Church in charge.

Lillian Robinson was born in Missouri and moved to Eagle Grove after the death of her parents. She attended the schools there. She attended nurses training classes at St. Joseph's Mercy Hospital, Fort Dodge, where she graduated with one of the first classes. She worked as a special nurse in private practice for several years. She married S. Benjamin Borwey in Eagle Grove in 1917 and he died in 1939. She married Andrew P. Sorenson in 1956 in Eagle Grove and the couple moved to Fort Dodge. They moved to Friendship Haven in 1973 and Mr. Sorenson died in 1975.
