Former Resident Buried Here Monday

Carl Pedersen [Pederson] was born in the Finaas Parish, Sondhordland, Norway, July 11, 1840, and died at the Story City Sunset Home, Story City, Iowa, Jan. 3, 1936, at the age of 95 years, 5 months and 23 days. He was baptized into Christ Jesus in infancy, received instruction and confessed his Christian faith in his youth.

On June 23, 1876, he was united in marriage to Miss Karen Hovland and lived at Haugesund for about five years. In 1881, Mr. and Mrs. Pedersen came to America, arriving at Story City, Iowa, on the 2nd day of June. They remained at Story City until in 1884, at which time they came to Eagle Grove, where they lived until Mrs. Pederson passed away from this life on May 3, 1922.

Mr. and Mrs. Pedersen did not have any children. They took a little girl into their home and raised her, but she also has passed away, and after Mrs. Pederson's death, Mr. Pedersen did not retain their home in Eagle Grove, but applied for admission into the Story City Sunset Home, where he found a good comfortable home and friendly care until he passed away.

Mr. and Mrs. Pedersen united with the Eagle Grove Evangelical Lutheran church, Jan. 1, 1886, and were very faithful to their church. They never missed a preaching service or a prayer meeting as long as they were able to attend. They loved their Saviour dearly. Mr. Pedersen served in various offices of the congregation. He was deacon for many years and for a time served as treasurer of the congregation. Also for a long time he served as pastor's assistant.

He has no brothers or sisters to survive him, but a large number of relatives, as nephews and nieces.

Funeral services were held at the Home in Story City, Monday morning, Jan. 6, and from the Eagle Grove Evangelical Lutheran church on Monday afternoon at 2 o'clock. Interment was made in the family lot in the Rose Hill cemetery.
