Francis Reed Corliss
3 November 1907 --- 22 September 1965

The body of Francis Reed Corliss, 58, a salesman for the Bankers Life & Casualty Co., will be removed this evening from the Stamey mortuary to the Kastler Funeral Home in Eagle Grove, Iowa, pending arrangements. Mr. Corliss died Wednesday night at his home, 1608 Main street. A native of Eagle Grove, Iowa, he had resided here three years. He was a veteran of World War II, and a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church. Survivors include one son, Frank R. Corliss; two daughters, Miss Nancy Corliss, a student at Central Missouri State College, Warrensburg, and Miss Susan Corliss, Los Angeles; one sister, Mrs. Mildred Foley, Sacramento, Cal., and one brother, Charles Corliss, Los Angeles.

Funeral Held Here For Reed Corliss
Funeral services for Francis Reed Corliss, 57, of St. Joseph, Mo., formerly of Eagle Grove, were held here Saturday morning at 11 o'clock in Sacred Heart church. Rev. Thomas Whalen of St. Joseph and Rev. Francis Phelan officiated, and interment was in the Corliss family plat at Calvary Cemetery. The Rosary was recited at the Kastler Funeral home Friday night.

Mr. Corliss a former Eagle Grove resident died Sept. 22 at his home in St. Joseph following a brief illness. His death was caused by a heart attack.

He is survived by two daughters and one son, Susan of Los Angeles, Calif., Linda and Frank of St. Joseph, Mo. Mr. Corliss was the son of the late Mr. and Mrs. Bruce Corliss, long-time Eagle Grove residents. He left Eagle Grove at a young age to join the Coast Guard and later also served in the U. S. Army. Mr. Corliss, Nancy and Frank had lived in St. Joseph for the past 10 years where he was in the insurance business. In addition to his three children, Mr. Corliss is survived by one sister, Mrs. Robert Foley of Sacramento, Calif., and one brother Charles Corliss of Los Angeles, Calif.

Father Thomas Whalen and Frank Trumpeter, close friends of Mr. Corliss, accompanied Nancy and Frank here and another friend Joe Gray also of St. Joseph came for the funeral. Mr. and Mrs. Foley were guests of Mr. and Mrs. Burdette Middleton, Nancy and Frank, and Charles Corliss were guests of Dr. and Mrs. E. C. Johnson. Father Whalen and Mr. Trumpeter were guests at the Sacred Heart Rectory. G. A. Hinkley, long time friend and neighbor of the Corliss family, came from Friendship Haven, Fort Dodge to attend Mr. Corliss' funeral.
