Carl Frank Reif was born April 10, 1911, the son of Frank and Elizabeth Koch Reif at Eagle Grove. He received his education in the Eagle Grove school system.

He made his home in Ferndale, Mich., and was employed there as an auto worker for the Chrysler Corporation in Warren, Mich. He had since retired.

He was a member of the United Auto Workers Union in Warren.

Carl Reif died at the William Beaumont Hospital in Royal Oak, Mich., on July 29, 1992, at the age of 81 years, three months and 19 days.

He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, George and Raymond; and two sisters, Bessie and Irene.

He is survived by one daughter, Frances Ann Graham of Troy, Mich.; one son and daughter-in-law, Frank and Zelda Reif of Mystic; one sister, Selma Cox of Clarion; seven grandchildren, Carol, Frank and Richard, all of Michigan, and Debbie, Vicky, Jeff, and Carla, all of Iowa; and 12 great-grandchildren.

Funeral services were held Monday, August 3 at the Kastler-Babcock Funeral Home in Eagle Grove. The Rev. Victor V. Victoria officiated at the 11 a.m. services and burial was in the Rose Hill Cemetery, Eagle Grove.
