Lewis Range (1847-1917)

January 7, 1847 --- April 30, 1917

Lewis Range was born in Berlin, Germany, January 7th, 1847 and at the age of 19 came to America with his parents locating near Webster City, Iowa. In 1870 he was united in marriage to Edith Martfelt and resided on a farm in Wright county for a number of years. They then moved to Nebraska and after a residence there for a few years returned to Eagle Grove in 1886 where they remained until 1896 when they moved to a farm in Minnesota, near Rake, Iowa and after three years moved to Kimball, South Dakota, where he resided until his death. His wife died July 15th, 1908.

He is survived by seven sons and two daughters: Adam Range, of Rake, Iowa; William of Kimball, So. Dak.; John, of Freeborn, Minnesota; August of Norfolk, Nebraska; Harry of Portner, No. Dak.; George and Charles of Kimball, So. Dak.; Mrs. Peter Christensen of Freeborn, Minnesota; Mrs. Henry Brown, of Clarion, Iowa, also by twenty-one grandchildren.

The remains arrived here Thursday and were taken to the home of the undertaker, M. W. Cunningham and the funeral, was held there Friday at 2:15 p. m., Rev. Acheson conducting the services.

All the children were present except four sons, August, Harry, William and Charles. The interment was in Rose Hill cemetery.
