April 20, 1904 --- October 6, 1986

Lura Alice Whyte was born April 20, 1904, at Goldfield, Iowa, the daughter of George W. and Agnes W. Stevenson Whyte.

She was educated in the Goldfield school, and graduated from high school in 1921.

She was united in marriage, to Eliot Sylvester Sevareid of Story City, on June 8, 1927, at the Presbyterian Church in Goldfield. The couple made their home in Goldfield from that time, until his death on January 6, 1985.

Lura had been ill for some time, and died at her home on Monday, October 6, at the age of 82 years, five months, and 16 days.

She is survived by. one daughter; Kay, Mrs. Marlin Struckman, of Troutdale, Ore., one brother; Kenneth Whyte, Goldfield, one sister; Mrs. Mamie Cunningham, Goldfield, and two grandchildren; Mark Struckman and Kaia Struckman.

She was preceded in death by her parents, two brothers; John W. and George W., and four sisters; Jennie Ottilie, Carrie Anderson, Myrtle McGowen, and Ethel Henry.

Lura was a life-long member of the United Presbyterian Church, Goldfield Bayview Club, Lack-a-Name Club, United Presbyterian Womens Organizations.

Funeral services were held at the United Presbyterian Church, Goldfield, at 10:30, Thursday, Oct. 9, with the Rev. Victor Victoria officiating. Burial was in the Glenwood Cemetery, Goldfield.
