RAYE ISABEL GODFREY

Raye Isabel Fisher was born on June 21, 1903, in Eagle Grove, to William C. and Idabelle C. Cole Fisher. She was raised and educated in Eagle Grove, graduating from Eagle Grove High School in 1921. After high school, she worked as a bookkeeper at Cole's Market. On May 1, 1928, she was united in marriage to John L. Godfrey in Eagle Grove. He died on February 21, 1989. She entered Rotary Ann in March of 1998. She was a member of the United Church of Christ and active in several of the ladies groups. She was awarded as a Fifty Year Member of the Equality Club.

Raye I. Godfrey died Sunday, May 17, 1998, at Rotary Ann Nursing Home in Eagle Grove at the age of 94.

Survivors include a daughter, Janis Harlan, Eagle Grove; a son-in-law, Delbert Christensen, Eagle Grove; five grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, John; two daughters, Sharon, as an infant, and Rachel Christensen in 1997.

Funeral services will be held on Wednesday (today), May 20, 1998, at 10:30 a.m. at the United Church of Christ in Eagle Grove with Reverend David Miller, Interim Pastor of First Baptist Church, officiating. Burial will be in Rose Hill Cemetery in Eagle Grove.
