October 22, 1872 --- March 15, 1959

Funeral services for William Fisher, 86, were held Wednesday at 2 p. m. in the Kastler Funeral Home. Burial was in the family lot in Rose Hill cemetery. The Rev. Marion, Blake officiated.

Mr. Fisher was born in Illinois in 1872 and in 1881 moved to the Wright county neighborhood where his father was engaged in farming. He attended Wright and Hamilton county public schools and Highland Park college in Des Moines.

He taught rural schools in the two counties and in 1899 he married Ida Cole and has made his home here since.

He served as city assessor for many years and was Wright county supervisor representing district three for 12 years until his retirement in 1950.

Mr. Fisher was one of 12 children. He is survived by his wife, two daughters, Thalia, Mrs. Mack Fairbanks of Moses Lake, Washington; Raye, Mrs. John Godfrey of Eagle Grove: four grandchildren and seven great-grandsons.

Mr. Fisher spent his life in public service and since his retirement has lived quietly at his home at 120 N. Washington.

Obituary

William Fisher, son of Albert Fisher and Catherine Crone Fisher, was born in Champaign county, Illinois, October 22, 1872. In 1881 the family moved to Iowa where the father was engaged in farming.

William was educated in schools in Hamilton and Wright counties and later in the old Highland Park college in Des Moines. He then taught schools in rural Wright county for several years and later moved to Eagle Grove which has since been his home,

In 1899 he married Ida B. Cole and to this marriage two children were born, Thalia, Mrs. Mack Fairbanks of Moses Lake, Washington, and Raye, Mrs. John Godfrey of Eagle Grove. He is also survived by four grandchildren and seven great-grandsons.

At the time of his retirement in 1950 he had served for twelve years as a member of the Wright county board of supervisors.

He was the last of the twelve children born to Albert and Catherine Fisher.

His death occurred on March 15 in the home where he had lived for almost sixty years.
