Mrs. Christina Johnson Jergenson, born September 15, 1868, died Wednesday morning, Jan. 9, 1952, at her home in Eagle Grove. She was born in Stavanger, Norway, to Ole and Elsie Sampson Johnson. In 1880 she came with her parents to the United States, settling in LaSalle county, Illinois. She married Ole Jergenson October 6, 1887, at Norway, Illinois. Three years later they moved to a farm near Holmes, Iowa.

Twelve children were born to them. Her husband, Ole, died in December, 1935, and a daughter, Clara Bruhl in 1938. Children who survive are: George of Rake, Leudie Bruhl of Klemme, Gertie Johnson of Thor, Arthur of Kanawha, Selma Eaton of Fort Dodge, Beatrice Mathias of Clarion, Selmer of Clarion, Ode, Edna, Chris and Celia Peterson of Eagle Grove. One sister, Livia Johnson of Eagle Grove and two sisters, Mrs. Inger Pearson and Mrs. Celia Norem and three brothers, Samuel, Edwin and Oscar Johnson of Marseilles, Illinois, also survive her. Also, 39 grandchildren and 37 great grandchildren.

Mrs. Jergenson was a member of the Eagle Grove Evangelical Lutheran Church or annex congregation for more than 60 years. She continued steadfast in her Christian faith to the end.

Funeral services were held Friday afternoon Jan. 11th in the Evangelical Lutheran church. Rev. Kenneth Torvik had charge. Kenneth Sandven was the soloist and other music was furnished by the choir with Mrs. Marcus Boe accompanist. Casket bearers were Ernest R. Peterson, Merle Bruhl, Olbert Jergenson, John R. Peterson, W. J. Jergenson, Donald Mathias.

Interment was in Rose Hill cemetery.
