12 January 1873 --- 18 January 1953

Luther Mussulman, eldest son of David and Susan Mussulman was born in the state of Missouri on January 12, 1873 and passed away at the Clausen Nursing Home on January 18, 1953, after suffering a cerebral hemorrhage. He was 80 years and 6 days of age at the time of his death.

When but a year old he moved with his parents and sister to Milmine, Illinois. Here he received his education and grew to manhood. He was baptized and united with the Church of Brethren at Milmine, Ill., and later he transferred his membership to the Eagle Grove Methodist church. On December 28, 1899 he was united in marriage to Mary Ellen Gross and to this union three children were born. For a while they lived on a farm a few miles east of Eagle Grove and later to a farm south of town. In 1920 they moved to Eagle Grove where his wife passed away in 1926.

He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, and two brothers, Chester and Ernest. He leaves to mourn his passing, three children: Marie, Mrs. Martin Larson; Gladys, Mrs. Fred McCormick, and Lloyd. Also six grandchildren. Three sisters, Dora Shively of LaPlace, Ill., Anna, Mrs. Sam Shively of LaPlace, Ill., and Mrs. Grace Arnold of Cerro Gordo, Ill. Many nieces and nephews, other relatives and a host of friends.

Funeral services were held Tuesday, Jan. 20, 1953 at the Wilson Funeral Chapel. Rev. Harrison G. Dawes, officiating. Interment was held on the family lot in Rose Hill cemetery, Eagle Grove, Iowa.
